NavisWave Technologies is seeking a skilled Maritime Navigation Systems Engineer to join our Singapore-based team. You will design, implement, and optimize navigation solutions used by commercial ships, ferries, and offshore support vessels. The role blends navigation theory, system integration, and operational excellence to improve route efficiency, safety, and regulatory compliance.
In this role, you will collaborate with shipowners, port authorities, and classification societies, and you will work with our cross-functional teams to deploy advanced navigation solutions, including ECDIS, ARPA radar, AIS, and integrated bridge systems.
Ideal candidates have hands-on experience with voyage planning, weather routing, and real-time vessel tracking, plus strong communication skills and a proactive approach to problem solving. Responsibility
- Lead the design and optimization of maritime navigation systems for commercial vessels, including ECDIS, radar, AIS, and integration with bridge systems.
- Develop and validate voyage plans, weather routing, and fuel-efficient routing strategies to reduce risk and emissions.
- Collaborate with fleet operations to implement standard operating procedures for navigational safety and compliance with SOLAS, COLREGs, and local regulations.
- Configure and maintain navigation software, perform system testing, and oversee robust data validation and cybersecurity for navigation networks.
- Provide training and onboard support to bridge teams, delivering clear guidance and hands-on coaching.
- Monitor performance metrics, conduct incident investigations, and implement continuous improvement initiatives for navigation readiness.
Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering, Navigation, Electrical Engineering, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in maritime navigation, voyage planning, or integrated bridge systems.
- Proficiency with ECDIS (e.g., input of waypoints, chart management) and ARPA radar configuration.
- Strong knowledge of AIS, VTS concepts, GMDSS, SOLAS, and COLREGs.
- Experience with navigation software, data analytics, and system integration (NMEA, SMP, NAVTEX, or similar standards).
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and customer-facing skills; fluency in English; additional languages a plus.
- Strong problem-solving mindset, ability to work under pressure, and willingness to travel for training and site support.
