Job description
Join Maritime Nexus Solutions, a premium provider of advanced navigation and vessel safety systems. We are seeking a proactive Maritime Navigation Specialist to design, implement, and optimize navigation workflows for fleets across merchant, offshore, and port operations. You will bridge the gap between on-board capabilities and shore-based analytics, leveraging ECDIS, ARPA, AIS, and radar technologies to enhance safety, efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
In this role, you’ll influence how ships navigate through complex waterways, evaluate voyage options, and ensure robust data governance across platforms. This is a growth-oriented opportunity for professionals who combine technical navigation expertise with strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Responsibility
- Lead the configuration, integration, and testing of ECDIS, ARPA, AIS, radar, and related navigation systems on vessels and shore support centers.
- Develop and validate optimized voyage plans, weather routing, and fuel-efficient strategies aligned with safety and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor compliance with SOLAS, IMO standards, and GMDSS; ensure correct implementation of traffic separation schemes and safe passage planning.
- Collaborate with ship officers, fleet operations, port authorities, and technical teams to coordinate safe, timely arrivals and efficient handovers.
- Perform system diagnostics, root-cause analysis, software updates, and cyber-security controls to maintain navigation integrity.
- Deliver comprehensive technical training, create user manuals, and establish standard operating procedures for crew and operations staff.
- Analyze navigation data, generate performance insights, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across fleets.
Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in Marine Navigation, Naval Architecture, Ocean Engineering, or a related field.
- Hands-on experience with ECDIS (type-specific), ARPA, AIS, radar integration, and maritime navigation systems.
- Strong knowledge of SOLAS, IMO regulations, GMDSS, and modern shipboard safety practices.
- Experience in merchant shipping, offshore platforms, or a marine technology environment.
- Analytical mindset with data interpretation, voyage optimization, and performance improvement abilities.
- Certifications such as STCW Officer in Charge of a Navigational Watch and GMDSS radio operator are highly desirable.
- Excellent communication skills in English; ability to train, document procedures, and coordinate with diverse stakeholders; willingness to travel as needed.
