Material Engineer
Private Advertiser is seeking a skilled Material Engineer to strengthen our manufacturing team in Pekan Nanas, Johor. The role focuses on improving production efficiency through smart materials management, rigorous testing, and data driven decision making. You will partner with operations, quality, and procurement to ensure materials meet performance, cost, and sustainability targets while supporting new product introductions.
As a Material Engineer, you will be responsible for selecting and specifying materials, developing testing protocols, and maintaining comprehensive material documentation. You will analyze supplier performance, monitor material usage, and implement process improvements that reduce waste, downtime, and variability. Your work will directly impact product quality, yield, and on time delivery across multiple projects.

Responsibility
- Lead material specification, testing, and qualification for existing products and new projects
- Collaborate with production and procurement to optimize material usage, reduce waste, and improve yield
- Develop and maintain material specifications, testing protocols, and quality documentation
- Support new product introductions by selecting appropriate materials and validating performance
- Analyze material performance data, supplier metrics, and cost implications to drive continuous improvement
- Manage supplier relationships and oversee material procurement for critical components
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards across all materials
- Contribute to lean manufacturing initiatives and cross functional problem solving
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Materials Engineering, Metallurgy or a related field
- 2-4 years of manufacturing or materials experience
- Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 quality systems and documentation
- Experience with materials testing, characterization, and data analysis
- Proficiency with MS Excel and data analysis tools; familiarity with Minitab is a plus
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem solving in a cross functional team
- Ability to troubleshoot material issues in a fast paced production environment
