Join SK Nexilis as a Mechanical (Steam) Engineer in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. This role is critical to ensure all steam generation and distribution equipment operates safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with Malaysian regulatory requirements. You will be part of a dynamic manufacturing team delivering high quality materials and sustainable energy performance.
In this position you will own the maintenance strategy for boilers, steam drums, condensate systems, and associated control systems. You will lead planned maintenance, perform root cause analysis on equipment failures, implement reliability improvements, and monitor energy consumption to optimize steam usage and reduce waste. You will collaborate with operations, safety, and compliance teams to uphold company standards and regulatory obligations, including safety, environmental, and boiler operation standards.
What you will do:
- Develop and execute preventive and predictive maintenance plans for steam generation and distribution equipment.
- Analyze equipment performance data, identify bottlenecks, and drive reliability improvements to minimize unplanned downtime.
- Lead troubleshooting and incident investigations for steam systems and implement effective corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with local regulations, permits, and internal safety policies; support audits and inspections.
- Collaborate with engineers and technicians to optimize energy efficiency and steam utilization across processes.
- Prepare technical documentation, operation procedures, and change controls for steam related equipment.
- Mentor junior maintenance staff and provide technical training as needed.

Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline; professional engineering licensure is a plus.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with steam generation, boilers, condensate systems, and steam distribution in a manufacturing setting.
- Strong preventive and predictive maintenance experience; data-driven reliability improvement projects.
- Experience with regulatory compliance, safety standards, and plant audits in Malaysia.
- Proficiency with maintenance planning tools, CMMS, and basic data analysis; familiarity with PLC/SCADA is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills; ability to mentor technicians.
- Willingness to work in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah and adapt to site operations schedule.
