In this role, you will perform and oversee high-quality laboratory testing and analysis that support the diagnosis, treatment, and management of cardiac conditions. Responsibility
- Perform and validate cardiac-related laboratory tests (e.g., cardiac biomarkers, lipid panels, coagulation studies) with a focus on accuracy, precision, and turn-around time.
- Operate and maintain laboratory instruments, troubleshoot issues, and participate in instrument validation and preventive maintenance programs.
- Ensure strict adherence to quality assurance, biosafety, and accreditation standards (e.g., ISO 15189) and participate in internal and external quality control activities.
- Interpret and report results clearly to clinicians, discuss discrepancies, and support clinical decision-making.
- Assist with ECG analysis, preparation of specimens for cardiology testing, and collaboration with the Cardiac Care Team.
- Document all procedures, maintain accurate records in the Laboratory Information System (LIS), and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Provide coaching and mentorship to junior staff and students; participate in cross-functional projects to optimise patient care processes.
Qualification
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science or related field from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of clinical laboratory experience, preferably in cardiology or cardiovascular diagnostics.
- Strong knowledge of laboratory operations, quality control, LIS systems, and biosafety procedures.
- Experience with cardiac biomarker testing, coagulation assays, lipid profiling, and routine toxicology tests is advantageous.
- Excellent problem-solving, attention to detail, and ability to deliver accurate results under tight deadlines.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Willingness to work flexible shifts, including weekends or holidays as required by hospital operations.
