IJM Corporation Berhad is seeking an experienced MEP Manager (Electrical) to lead electrical, mechanical, BMS, security and ICT systems for high profile data center projects in Elmina, Selangor. In this role, you will direct multi discipline MEP activities from design review through commissioning, ensuring safe, on time delivery while meeting client expectations and regulatory requirements.
As the MEP Manager, you will act as the single point of contact for mechanical, electrical and related building services, coordinating with project teams, consultants and subcontractors. You will oversee electrical design, installation, testing, commissioning and performance verification of critical systems including power distribution, switchgear, UPS, generators and BMS. You will also ensure robust data center infrastructure, fire safety, and ICT integration to support uptime and reliability.
Your responsibilities include developing and maintaining detailed project execution plans, schedules, budgets, and quality plans; reviewing design drawings, specifications and shop drawings; issuing RFIs and driving value engineering where appropriate; and leading on-site supervision of MEP installation, testing and commissioning. You will drive safety, health and environmental practices, ensuring compliance with local regulations and IJM's standards. You will coordinate interfaces with clients, consultants and subcontractors, lead progress meetings and deliver accurate progress reports. You will manage procurement activities, material logistics, risk management and performance of subcontractors to protect schedule and budget. Finally, you will lead the handover process with comprehensive O&M manuals and a smooth transition to facilities teams.
Responsibility
- Lead and coordinate end-to-end MEP activities (Mechanical, Electrical, BMS, ICT, and Security) for data center projects, ensuring seamless system integration.
- Develop and manage project execution plans, schedules, cost control, and quality assurance to meet or exceed client expectations.
- Review design drawings, specifications, shop drawings, and technical submittals; issue RFIs and drive value engineering where appropriate.
- Lead on-site supervision of installation, testing, commissioning, and performance verification of critical systems including electrical distribution, UPS, generators, and BMS.
- Ensure compliance with safety, health, environment standards and local regulations; drive a culture of safe work practices on site.
- Coordinate interfaces with clients, consultants and subcontractors; conduct progress meetings; prepare progress reports and performance metrics.
- Manage procurement activities, material logistics, contractor performance, and risk management to protect project timelines and budget.
Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline; professional registration is preferred.
- Minimum 8 years of relevant MEP management experience, preferably in data centers or mission-critical facilities.
- Strong technical knowledge of electrical distribution, switchgear, UPS, generators, BMS, fire safety systems, and ICT infrastructure.
- Experience with Malaysian standards and authorities; familiarity with NFPA, IEC, and local codes; ability to manage approvals and inspections.
- Proven leadership and communication skills; ability to manage multi-disciplinary teams and subcontractors; stakeholder management.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting drawings, specifications, and contract documents; strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Project management certifications (PMP or equivalent) are a plus; willingness to work on-site in Elmina, Selangor.
