Join Lumen Birth & Wellness, a premium midwifery practice in Portland, Oregon, dedicated to compassionate, evidence-based care for families from pregnancy to postpartum. We partner with obstetricians, nurses, and community doulas to create safe, empowering birth experiences aligned with each family’s values.
As a practicing CNM/CM, you will provide comprehensive prenatal care, support labor and birth, and offer postpartum follow-up and lactation support. This role offers a collaborative team environment, flexible scheduling, and opportunities for on-call rotations and home births where clinically appropriate.
Responsibility
- Provide comprehensive prenatal, intrapartum, and postpartum midwifery care aligned with best practices and patient preferences.
- Lead and support hospital, birth center, or home birth settings with compassionate, evidence-based management of labor and delivery within scope.
- Develop individualized birth plans, conduct risk assessments, and manage emergent situations with appropriate consultation.
- Educate families on breastfeeding, newborn care, nutrition, safety, and postpartum recovery; offer lactation support.
- Collaborate with the care team, including physicians, nurses, and doulas, ensuring seamless coordination and documentation in the electronic medical record.
- Participate in on-call rotation and after-hours coverage, providing flexible scheduling to meet community needs.
- Engage in continuous quality improvement initiatives and contribute to program development and community outreach.
Qualification
- Current and active CNM or CM license in Oregon, with eligibility to practice in the state; AMCB certification required.
- Minimum 2-3 years of licensed midwifery experience with demonstrated intrapartum skills.
- Strong clinical competency in labor management, neonatal resuscitation (NRP), and emergency protocols.
- Excellent communication and patient-centered care approach; culturally humble and trauma-informed.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team; willing to participate in on-call rotations.
- Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) and data recording; commitment to quality improvement and evidence-based practice.
- Current BLS/CPR certification; NRP certification preferred; willingness to obtain if not already held.
- Flexibility to work across settings (clinic, hospital, home birth) depending on program needs.
