Emerald City Birth Center is seeking a passionate and licensed midwife to join our collaborative team in Seattle, WA. You will provide comprehensive maternity care across prenatal, intrapartum, and postpartum periods, supporting healthy, safe, and empowering birth experiences for diverse families.
In this full-time role, you will lead with evidence-based obstetric care while collaborating with physicians, nurses, lactation consultants, and doulas to create individualized birth plans and compassionate care pathways. Responsibility
- Provide evidence-based prenatal care, intrapartum support, and postpartum follow-up for a diverse client population.
- Develop and implement individualized birth plans in collaboration with families and the care team.
- Monitor fetal well-being, manage normal labor, and recognize when escalation or transfer is needed.
- Educate patients on prenatal nutrition, pain management options, birth options, and newborn care.
- Maintain accurate documentation in electronic medical records and ensure compliance with state regulations.
- Collaborate with obstetricians, nurses, lactation consultants, and doulas to optimize outcomes and patient experience.
- Provide lactation support and postpartum follow-up to promote successful breastfeeding and family health.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and ongoing professional development for evidence-based practice.
Qualification
- Active Washington state midwifery license or eligibility to practice as CNM/CPM in WA.
- Graduation from an accredited midwifery program; CNM degree preferred.
- Minimum of 3+ years of clinical midwifery experience in a birth center or hospital setting.
- Current BLS/ACLS certification and advanced obstetric skills.
- Strong knowledge of evidence-based obstetric care, lactation support, and newborn care.
- Excellent communication, counseling, and teamwork skills; ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.
- Ability to perform and interpret fetal monitors, manage obstetric emergencies, and make sound clinical judgments.
