Job description

We are seeking a dedicated Midwife to join our team at Portland Birth Center, a community-focused practice delivering compassionate, evidence-based care.

In this full-time role, you will partner with families through prenatal, intrapartum, and postpartum periods, supporting safe and empowering birth experiences.

Responsibility

  • Provide comprehensive, evidence-based midwifery care across prenatal, intrapartum, and postpartum periods
  • Lead and support normal labor with continuous assessment of maternal and fetal wellbeing
  • Develop and implement individualized birth plans in collaboration with families
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and support staff to ensure a seamless care experience
  • Educate families on childbirth options, lactation, newborn care, and postpartum recovery
  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure adherence to clinic policies and regulatory standards
  • Engage in community outreach, quality improvement, and evidence-based practice initiatives

Qualification

  • Current CNM or CM certification with active license in Oregon or eligibility for licensure
  • Master's degree in midwifery or related field
  • Minimum 2-3 years of clinical midwifery experience, preferably in birth centers or community settings
  • Strong knowledge of current guidelines and best practices from ACOG, AWHONN, and related bodies
  • Excellent communication, cultural humility, and teamwork skills
  • NRP, BLS, and ACLS certifications preferred; ability to obtain or maintain required certifications
  • Ability to work a rotating on-call schedule and respond to emergencies with composure
  • Commitment to patient-centered care and continuous learning
