Responsibility

  • Provide comprehensive, evidence-based midwifery care across prenatal, intrapartum, and postpartum periods for diverse populations.
  • Perform risk assessment, screenings, routine exams, and care planning; monitor fetal well-being; initiate timely transfers when needed in collaboration with obstetric and neonatal teams.
  • Support natural birth and informed choices, including nonpharmacologic pain management options and mobility strategies while ensuring safety.
  • Lead labor support with continuous monitoring, documentation, and patient education; coordinate care with physicians, nurses, lactation consultants, and social workers.
  • Promote lactation support and newborn care education; provide postpartum follow-up to support breastfeeding success and family adjustment.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, adhere to evidence-based guidelines, and uphold patient safety standards.
  • Educate, empower, and advocate for diverse patients; foster culturally competent, respectful care and community outreach.

Qualification

  • Current Oregon CNM license and board certification (or eligible) with active practice rights.
  • Minimum 2+ years of clinical midwifery experience in birth center or hospital settings; proficient in low- and high-risk situation management as appropriate.
  • Excellent communication, empathy, and patient-centered care skills; ability to build trust with diverse families.
  • Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) and care coordination across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong knowledge of evidence-based obstetric guidelines, lactation support, and newborn care.
  • Flexibility to participate in on-call rotations, nights, and weekends as required.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development, quality improvement, and teamwork.
