Harborlight Midwifery Collective is seeking a dedicated, credentialed Midwife to join our Melbourne based team. We provide individualized antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care in a birth center setting and through home visits, emphasizing evidence based practice, informed choice, and culturally safe care.
As a full time Midwife, you will collaborate with obstetricians, nurses, and support staff to deliver compassionate, client centered care across the birth continuum. Responsibility
- Provide comprehensive midwifery care across antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal periods, ensuring safety and informed choice.
- Support labour and birth with evidence based practices, continuous presence, and appropriate pain management options.
- Develop individualized birth plans, obtain informed consent, and document care plans accurately.
- Perform risk assessments, monitor fetal well being, and respond to emergencies within scope; escalate when necessary.
- Collaborate with obstetricians, neonatal staff, and allied health professionals to coordinate care.
- Deliver postpartum support including breastfeeding guidance, newborn assessment, and parent education.
- Contribute to quality improvement, data collection, and adherence to regulatory and privacy standards.
Qualification
- Bachelor of Midwifery or equivalent qualification and current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Midwife.
- Minimum 3 years of clinical experience in midwifery and demonstrated ability to provide autonomous care.
- Current practicing certificate and up-to-date BLS/NRP certification.
- Experience in birth center or home birth settings is preferred.
- Excellent communication, empathy, and collaboration skills with multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong knowledge of Australian midwifery standards and RANZCOG guidelines; commitment to evidence based practice.
- Commitment to cultural safety, equity, and client centered care; ability to work flexibly including on call shifts.
