Responsibility

  • Provide comprehensive prenatal, intrapartum, and postpartum care for low-risk pregnancies.
  • Lead evidence-based labor support, monitor fetal health, and assist with birth planning and pain management.
  • Conduct risk assessments, screenings, and health education for mothers and families.
  • Develop individualized birth plans in collaboration with patients and support networks.
  • Educate clients on pregnancy, breastfeeding, newborn care, and parenting skills.
  • Collaborate with obstetricians, pediatricians, nurses, and doulas to coordinate care.
  • Document care accurately in the electronic medical record and ensure compliance with protocols.
  • Provide emergency obstetric assistance when needed and arrange appropriate referrals.

Qualification

  • Active Certified Nurse-Midwife (CNM) or Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) certification and WA state license.
  • Current BLS/ACLS certification and ability to respond to obstetric emergencies.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of midwifery experience in a clinical setting with low-risk pregnancies.
  • Strong communication, empathy, and patient advocacy skills.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based maternity care practices and pain management options.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team and across departments.
