Responsibility
- Provide evidence-based midwifery care across antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum periods.
- Support labor and birth, including pain management options, fetal monitoring, and emergency response when needed.
- Develop individualized birth plans and informed consent processes in partnership with clients and families.
- Provide antenatal education classes and postpartum check-ins, promoting breastfeeding and newborn care.
- Collaborate with obstetricians, neonatal nurses, and other health professionals to coordinate care.
- Document care accurately in electronic medical records, ensuring privacy and compliance with standards.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, audits, and continuing professional development.
Qualification
- Current AHPRA registration as a Midwife or eligibility to apply.
- Bachelor of Midwifery or equivalent qualification recognized in Australia.
- Minimum 2 years of clinical midwifery experience (preferred).
- Strong knowledge of evidence-based obstetric care and neonatal basics.
- Excellent communication, cultural sensitivity, and advocacy skills.
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including nights and weekends.
- Commitment to patient safety, confidentiality, and interprofessional teamwork.
- Active engagement in continuing professional development and reflective practice.
