Fortress Defense Solutions is seeking a dedicated Military Communications Engineer to join our national security programs team. This role combines engineering excellence with a mission-driven culture to deliver secure, resilient communications for deployed units and defense partners. In this role, you will design and optimize C4ISR networks, oversee secure integration of radios, data links, satellites, and Ethernet backbones, and ensure compliance with strict defense standards. Responsibility
- Design, install, configure, and maintain secure C4ISR communications networks for field operations.
- Lead system integration of radios, data links, SATCOM, and IP networks.
- Define and document system requirements, performance metrics, and security controls.
- Conduct risk assessments, vulnerability testing, and incident response planning.
- Provide on-site and remote support to military units, including training and knowledge transfer.
- Collaborate with government clients, vendors, and cross-functional teams to ensure program success.
- Ensure compliance with DoD and NATO standards.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field; or equivalent military and civilian experience.
- 5+ years of experience in military or defense sector; hands-on work with C4ISR, networking, and communications systems.
- Active DoD security clearance or ability to obtain one (preferred).
- Strong knowledge of encryption, cyber security controls, risk management, and incident response.
- Proficiency with RF systems, SATCOM, data links, and network protocols (TCP/IP, MPLS, VPN).
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work with diverse teams under mission-critical timelines.
- Willingness to travel up to 25% as required.
