TerraNova Mining Group is seeking a results-driven Mining Engineer to join our Perth office. You will drive safe, efficient, and sustainable mining operations across open-pit and underground projects. This role merges technical design, planning, and leadership with opportunities to contribute to world-class mine development programs.
As a key member of our operations team, you will translate geological data into optimized production plans, support capital projects, and mentor junior engineers while upholding the highest standards of safety, integrity, and environmental stewardship.
Responsibility
- Lead open-pit and/or underground mine planning, sequencing, and design optimization using industry-standard software (Surpac, Vulcan, Datamine).
- Assist ore body modelling, reserve estimation, and grade control to maximize value while controlling dilution and loss.
- Develop and review annual and life-of-mine plans, budgets, and schedules in collaboration with geology, operations, and maintenance teams.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements; drive continuous improvement in risk management.
- Monitor ventilation, ground control, rock mechanics, and equipment performance; implement productivity enhancements and cost-saving measures.
- Coordinate with project teams on capital development and optimization projects; manage scope, cost, and timelines.
- Prepare technical reports, deliver presentations to stakeholders, and mentor junior engineers and technicians.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or related field; master's degree preferred.
- 5+ years of hands-on mining experience (open-pit and/or underground) with strong planning and design capabilities.
- Proficiency in mine design and modelling software (Surpac, Vulcan, Datamine); advanced CAD/GIS skills.
- Solid understanding of geotechnical principles, rock mechanics, ventilation, and safety management.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data-driven decision-making skills; excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
- Experience with regulatory compliance, environmental stewardship, and life-of-mine planning.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or eligible in Australia; valid site-based medical and inductions.
