What you will do:
Responsibility
- Lead the preparation and quality of long- and short-term mine plans using Deswik, Surpac, and other industry-standard software.
- Develop and optimize open pit and underground designs, sequences, and production schedules to maximize value while maintaining safety and regulatory compliance.
- Oversee geotechnical assessments, rock mechanics, ground control plans, and rock mass characterization.
- Coordinate with processing, ventilation, and civil teams to ensure integrated and efficient mine systems.
- Lead risk assessments, safety reviews, and incident investigations; champion continuous improvement and training for field crews.
- Mentor junior engineers, supervise contractors, and drive technical initiatives across projects.
- Prepare technical reports, capital and operating budgets, and Feasibility Study inputs; present findings to executives and stakeholders.
Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering; Master’s degree or MBA in a mining context is a plus.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in open pit or underground mining with demonstrated project delivery.
- Proficiency with mine planning and design software (Deswik, Surpac, Vulcan) and GIS tools.
- Strong knowledge of rock mechanics, geotechnical engineering, ventilation planning, and ground control.
- Experience with resource estimation, reserve classification, and feasibility studies.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills; ability to mentor teams and present complex technical concepts.
- Willingness to relocate or reside in Perth; valid driver's license and ability to travel to sites as needed.
