As a senior professional, you will lead technical solutions, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams on strategic mine development and optimization projects. You will influence design choices, drive performance improvements, and contribute to safety, sustainability, and regulatory compliance.

This position is ideal for a proactive engineer who thrives in a dynamic environment and is committed to delivering high-quality mining solutions through rigorous analysis, robust planning, and cross-functional leadership.

Responsibility

  • Lead the development of mine designs and production schedules that optimize value, safety, and reliability.
  • Perform geotechnical assessments, rock mass rating, and boundary conditions for open-pit and underground operations.
  • Coordinate drilling, blasting, and blasting design with geological and geotechnical teams to meet ore grade control targets.
  • Develop short- and long-range mine plans using industry-standard software (Surpac, Vulcan, Deswik, Carlson).
  • Lead risk assessments, management of change, and incident investigations; champion safety and environmental stewardship.
  • Mentor and coach junior engineers, provide technical reviews, and support competency development across the team.
  • Collaborate with production, maintenance, and procurement to optimize equipment and cyclic planning.
  • Prepare technical reports, cost estimates, and stakeholder presentations for internal and external audiences.

Qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a closely related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum 5-7 years of mining experience with emphasis on design, planning, and operational optimization.
  • Strong knowledge of mine design software (Surpac, Vulcan, Carlson, Deswik) and planning tools.
  • Solid understanding of geotechnical concepts, ore control, and grade reconciliation.
  • Experience with underground and open-pit operations; familiarity with blasting and rock mechanics.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Registered professional engineer or eligibility for professional engineering license in Australia is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel to site locations and work in remote environments as required.
