TerraNova Resources is seeking a Senior Mining Engineer to lead multi-disciplinary mining teams across open pit and underground operations in Western Australia. You will drive mine design optimization, sequencing, and production planning while upholding the highest safety and environmental standards. As a Senior Mining Engineer, you will collaborate with geologists, metallurgists, planners, and operations to deliver reliable, cost-effective results from mine to market. You will apply risk assessments, reconcile production, and develop life-of-mine plans with accurate reserves, schedules, and budgets.
Responsibility
- Lead mine design optimization, pit and underground sequencing, and production scheduling.
- Develop and implement mining methods, reserves development plans, and production targets aligned with business goals.
- Perform geotechnical risk assessments and ensure compliance with safety, environment, and regulatory standards.
- Coordinate with geologists, planners, and operations to deliver reliable, cost-effective results from mine to plant.
- Manage budgets, cost controls, and project economics; monitor contractor performance and procurement.
- Mentor junior engineers and field staff; provide technical coaching and performance feedback.
- Lead blasting design optimization, fragmentation planning, and ventilation strategies as required.
- Prepare and present technical reports, feasibility studies, and life-of-mine plans to stakeholders.
Qualification
- Bachelor degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent; master's preferred.
- Minimum 6+ years of experience in open pit and/or underground mining operations.
- Proven track record in mine planning software (Deswik, Vulcan, Leapfrog, MineSched) and data analysis.
- Strong knowledge of rock mechanics, ventilation, blasting, and safety standards; proficient in risk assessment and cost control.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills; ability to manage multidisciplinary teams.
- Eligibility to work in Australia; valid driver's license; willingness to relocate to Perth region.
- Experience with reconciliations, reserve estimation, and life-of-mine planning.
- Familiarity with regulatory compliance, environmental considerations, and reporting standards.
