Job description

NovaOre Mining Solutions is seeking a highly skilled Senior Mining Engineer to join our dynamic team in Perth, WA. You will lead design, planning, and optimization across open pit and underground operations, ensuring safe, cost-effective, and sustainable mining solutions.

In this role you will collaborate with geologists, metallurgists, and production teams to deliver robust mine designs, schedules, and cut-off strategies that maximize value while adhering to the highest safety and environmental standards.

Responsibility

  • Lead conceptual, preliminary, and detailed mine design for open pit and underground operations.
  • Develop and optimize production schedules, sequencing, and access plans to maximize ore recovery and minimize waste.
  • Perform geotechnical reviews, ventilation planning, and hydrogeology assessments to support safe mining operations.
  • Create and maintain mine design models using industry standard software and ensure data integrity.
  • Coordinate with geology, surveying, and metallurgical teams to deliver cohesive technical plans.
  • Prepare technical reports, design briefs, and management presentations for stakeholders and regulators.
  • Provide mentorship to junior engineers and lead design reviews with cross functional teams.

Qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or related field; master's degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in surface and underground mining; open pit and underground exposure.
  • Proficiency with mine planning and design software such as Deswik, Surpac, Leapfrog, or equivalent.
  • Strong knowledge of safety standards, geotechnical concepts, ventilation, and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent communication, project management, and teamwork skills.
  • Eligible to work in Australia (citizenship or permanent residency) and willingness to travel to project sites as needed (including FIFO).
  • Professional engineering accreditation such as RPEQ or equivalent is preferred.
  • Demonstrated track record of delivering value through innovative mining solutions.
