Join a leading global mining group as a Senior Mining Engineer in Perth, Western Australia. This full-time role offers exposure to open-pit and underground operations, cutting-edge automation projects, and a clear path to leadership within a high-performance team.
You will apply your technical expertise to design, optimize, and deliver safe, productive, and cost-efficient mine plans while collaborating with geology, processing, and environmental teams.
Responsibility
- Lead the design and optimization of short- and long-term mine plans (open-pit and underground), accounting for geotechnical data, metallurgy, and economic factors.
- Coordinate with geology, processing, and safety teams to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient operations across all mining stages.
- Develop, review, and supervise drilling, blasting, and mining methods; optimize equipment utilization and sequencing to maximize ore recovery.
- Perform pit optimization, slope stability analysis, and reserve estimation in collaboration with geologists and engineers.
- Monitor key performance indicators (costs, productivity, dilution, ore recovery) and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Prepare technical reports, plans, and budgets; present recommendations to senior management and stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards; mentor junior engineers and promote a strong safety culture.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent; Master's degree preferred.
- 8+ years of experience in mining engineering with exposure to both open-pit and underground operations.
- Proficiency in mine design software (Surpac, Vulcan, MineSight) and CAD/GIS tools; experience with AutoCAD is advantageous.
- Strong knowledge of rock mechanics, geotechnical assessments, blasting design, and sequencing.
- Demonstrated ability to lead projects, manage budgets, and communicate complex technical concepts clearly.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills; collaborative and adaptable in a multidisciplinary team.
- Professional registration or eligibility in Australia is preferred.
