PetroChina invites applications for an experienced Operational Risk Specialist to join our Singapore office on a 12-month contract. This role sits at the intersection of Energy Trading and Risk Management, focusing on data quality and governance that underpin critical decision-making across trading desks, risk metrics, and regulatory reporting. You will partner with Traders, Risk Managers, Compliance, and IT to ensure data integrity, timeliness, and auditable controls that reduce operational risk and support scalable growth in a dynamic market.
In this position, you will lead data quality initiatives, design and implement risk indicators, and drive improvements to data capture, cleansing, and lineage. You should be comfortable translating complex data problems into practical, business-ready insights for senior leadership. Responsibility
- Lead and manage data quality initiatives across the Energy Trading and Risk department, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of risk data.
- Develop and maintain risk indicators, dashboards, and management reports for senior stakeholders.
- Collaborate with Trading, Risk, Compliance, and IT teams to define data standards and governance processes.
- Monitor operational risk controls, perform gap analyses, and recommend remediation plans.
- Coordinate incident investigations and root-cause analyses for data-related risk events.
- Support regulatory and internal reporting requirements with high-quality, auditable documentation.
- Proactively identify opportunities to improve data integrity, process efficiency, and risk controls.
- Assist in training and mentoring team members on data quality and risk management best practices.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related field (Masterβs preferred).
- 2-5 years of experience in operational risk, risk management, compliance, or data governance, preferably in energy trading or financial services.
- Strong data quality and data governance capabilities, with experience in data mapping and lineage.
- Analytical mindset with ability to interpret risk metrics and translate into actionable insights.
- Proficiency in risk reporting tools, Excel, SQL, and data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
- Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to work with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of applicable policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards related to risk management.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines.
