Job description

StellarStage Theatre Collective, a premier nonprofit in New York City's arts scene, seeks a dynamic Performing Arts Program Director to lead our artistic programming and operations. This is a full-time role that blends strategic program development, budget stewardship, fundraising collaboration, and community engagement to deliver high-quality theatre and dance experiences.

As the Programs Director, you will partner with the Artistic Director, development team, and external partners to design compelling seasons, manage production calendars, and ensure the highest standards of artistic integrity and operational excellence.

Responsibility

  • Lead development and management of seasonal performing arts programs, ensuring artistic vision aligns with organizational strategy.
  • Oversee annual budgets, financial reporting, and resource allocation for all programs.
  • Collaborate with the Artistic Director and external partners to curate compelling seasons and guest artist engagements.
  • Manage production schedules, staffing plans, vendor contracts, and risk management for performances and events.
  • Lead fundraising efforts in partnership with development staff, writing grants and cultivating donor relationships.
  • Build community partnerships, audience development strategies, and education/outreach initiatives.
  • Supervise program staff and interns; foster a positive, inclusive work environment and ensure compliance with safety and union guidelines.

Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Arts Administration, Theatre, Dance, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in performing arts administration, production, or operations.
  • Proven track record in budgeting, fundraising, grant writing, and financial reporting.
  • Strong leadership, collaboration, and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Familiarity with ticketing systems (e.g., audience management platforms) and CRM tools; data-driven decision making.
  • Deep knowledge of stage operations, safety standards, contracts, and unions as applicable.
  • Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in programming and hiring; ability to build inclusive partnerships.
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and during production periods as needed.
