Responsibility
- Provide accurate dispensing and verification of prescriptions in accordance with state laws and company policies.
- Counsel patients on medication use, potential side effects, interactions, and adherence strategies.
- Review and reconcile medication profiles; perform medication therapy management and wellness services.
- Supervise and mentor pharmacy technicians and interns; oversee daily workflow and quality control.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, DEA, and state board regulations; maintain precise documentation and audits.
- Manage inventory, purchasing, and controlled substance handling; monitor expiration dates and stock levels.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and payers to optimize therapy, support prior authorizations, and formulary decisions.
Qualification
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or equivalent; valid pharmacist license to practice in New York.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a community or retail pharmacy; hospital experience accepted.
- Immunization certification (or willingness to obtain) and ability to administer vaccines where permitted.
- Excellent communication and patient-service skills; strong attention to detail.
- Proficiency with pharmacy management software and technology (e.g., EPIC, QS/Care, Pioneer); data-driven mindset.
- Knowledge of federal and state regulatory requirements, HIPAA, and controlled substance handling.
- Flexible schedule including evenings and weekends; ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
