As a licensed pharmacist, you will verify prescriptions, counsel patients on medication use, monitor for adverse effects, manage drug interactions, and help maintain medication safety and regulatory compliance within a fast-paced retail/hospital setting.
Responsibility
- Verify and dispense prescriptions accurately while ensuring patient safety.
- Counsel patients on dosage, administration, potential side effects, and drug interactions.
- Review, reconcile, and optimize medication therapy for quality outcomes.
- Collaborate with prescribers and healthcare teams to coordinate care plans.
- Manage inventory, medication dispensing systems, and controlled substances with compliance.
- Monitor and report adverse events, ensure regulatory adherence (HIPAA, DEA, state boards).
- Lead quality improvement initiatives and support continuous process enhancements.
Qualification
- Active NY Pharmacist license and Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree.
- Minimum 2 years of community or hospital pharmacy experience (retail acceptable).
- Proficiency with pharmacy software, prescription processing, and POS systems.
- Excellent communication and patient service skills; ability to educate diverse patients.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and safety in dispensing.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as required.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements (HIPAA, DEA, state boards) and drug safety practices.
