Responsibility
- Provide patient-centered pharmaceutical care and medication counseling to improve therapeutic outcomes.
- Review and verify prescriptions for accuracy, interactions, allergies, dosage, and duplicate therapies.
- Counsel patients on medication use, potential side effects, adherence strategies, and OTC options.
- Compound and dispense medications following established protocols; supervise sterile and non-sterile preparations as required.
- Collaborate with prescribers to optimize therapy and participate in medication therapy management (MTM).
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements (FDA, DEA, NYS Board of Pharmacy) and HIPAA privacy standards.
- Oversee inventory management, including controlled substances, reimbursement, and loss prevention.
- Lead and train pharmacy technicians to maintain efficient, accurate workflows and high-quality patient service.
Qualification
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited school; active NY Pharmacist license.
- Minimum 2 years of pharmacy experience in a community or clinical setting preferred.
- Strong knowledge of pharmacology, drug interactions, contraindications, and adverse effects.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and patient counseling skills.
- Proficiency with pharmacy software and prescription processing; ability to adapt to new technologies.
- Solid understanding of HIPAA, state and federal regulations, and pharmacy operations.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving and time-management abilities.
