Responsibility
- Assist pharmacists in dispensing medications and verifying prescriptions for accuracy and safety.
- Prepare and label medications, including compounding under approved guidelines.
- Manage inventory, order replenishments, and perform regular stock checks to prevent shortages.
- Provide courteous, accurate medication counseling to patients and caregivers under supervision.
- Maintain meticulous patient records and ensure HIPAA compliance at all times.
- Operate pharmacy management software for prescription processing, insurance claims, and refill requests.
- Uphold safety standards, sanitation, and proper handling of controlled substances.
- Collaborate with the pharmacy team to resolve issues and improve workflow.
Qualification
- High school diploma or equivalent; current California Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) preferred or eligible to certify.
- Active license/certification as a Pharmacy Technician in California according to the State Board of Pharmacy requirements.
- Strong attention to detail and mathematical accuracy for dosage calculations.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills; ability to de-escalate concerns with empathy.
- Experience with pharmacy software (e.g., PioneerRx, QS/1) and electronic health records.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced retail environment and adapt to changing priorities.
- Commitment to medication safety, accuracy, and HIPAA compliance.
