Join a premier philosophy research center in New York City as a full-time Philosophy Lecturer. This role blends high-level teaching with active scholarly research and public-facing engagement.
We seek a thoughtful, rigorous educator who can design compelling courses, mentor students, and contribute to interdisciplinary dialogues on ethics, epistemology, and metaphysics. The ideal candidate will advance the field and foster an inclusive learning environment.
Responsibility
- Deliver undergraduate and graduate courses in philosophy with clarity, rigor, and inclusive pedagogy.
- Develop and update course syllabi, assignments, and assessment strategies.
- Mentor students, supervise independent studies and senior theses, and support graduate research.
- Lead and publish research projects; present findings at conferences and contribute to peer-reviewed journals.
- Collaborate with colleagues on interdisciplinary programs in ethics, policy, and public philosophy.
- Participate in departmental service, curriculum development, and program assessment.
- Contribute to grant writing and fundraising efforts as needed.
Qualification
- PhD in Philosophy or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
- Evidence of excellence in university-level teaching and mentorship.
- Strong research agenda with publications in reputable journals.
- Ability to teach a broad range of philosophy courses including ethics, metaphysics, and epistemology.
- Outstanding written and oral communication skills.
- Commitment to inclusive pedagogy and diversity in the classroom.
- Experience with curriculum development, assessment, and student advising.
- Familiarity with academic grant processes and interdisciplinary collaboration (preferred).
