We are seeking a results-driven Policy Analyst to support policy research, legislative analysis, and stakeholder engagement in the U.S. capital region. This role offers opportunities to influence policy discussions, collaborate with experts, and produce data-driven recommendations for policymakers, coalitions, and the public.

As a Policy Analyst, you will work with the Policy & Research team to monitor developments, synthesize information, and translate findings into clear briefings and memos. The ideal candidate combines rigorous research with excellent communication skills and a passion for governance and civic education.

Responsibility

  • Conduct in-depth policy research and legislative analysis across topics within the team's portfolio
  • Monitor political and policy developments, summarize impact, and maintain policy trackers
  • Prepare briefing memos, one-pagers, and data-backed reports for internal teams and external stakeholders
  • Translate complex research into accessible external communications and policy recommendations
  • Engage with policymakers, coalitions, and subject-matter experts to gather insights
  • Support project planning, timeline management, and cross-functional collaboration with Communications and Outreach teams

Qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Economics, or a related field; master's preferred
  • 2-4 years of policy research or government affairs experience in NGO, think tank, or public sector
  • Strong analytical, research, and writing skills with the ability to synthesize complex information
  • Experience with data analysis and visualization tools (Excel, Tableau, R, Python)
  • Familiarity with U.S. policymaking process and the Washington DC policy environment
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities; comfortable presenting to diverse audiences
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple projects with high ethical standards
