Capitol Policy Institute seeks a Policy Analyst to join our team in Washington, DC. This role advances rigorous policy research, data driven analysis, and strategic policy communications to inform lawmakers and stakeholders.
As a member of the policy team, you will collaborate with researchers, communications staff, and external partners to produce high quality briefs, memos, and testimony materials that drive thoughtful policy outcomes.
Responsibility
- Lead and support policy research on domestic issues including data collection, literature reviews, and synthesis into concise briefs.
- Analyze proposed legislation and regulatory changes, assess impacts, and present policy options with clear recommendations.
- Collaborate with program and communications teams to develop data driven briefs, memos, and testimony materials.
- Prepare and present findings for internal briefings and external stakeholder meetings with clarity and impact.
- Monitor policy developments, track key agencies and legislators, and provide timely updates to leadership.
- Support outreach and engagement with policymakers, think tanks, and community partners.
- Assist with project management to ensure timely delivery of policy products and reports.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Economics, or related field; master's preferred.
- 3-5 years of policy research, government affairs, or legislative experience.
- Strong analytical skills with experience in data analysis and qualitative research.
- Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to translate complex policy into clear briefs.
- Familiarity with legislative processes and regulatory frameworks.
- Proficiency with MS Office and data analysis tools (Excel, Stata, R) and Google Suite.
- Collaborative mindset with ability to work across teams and manage multiple priorities.
