Job description

Canadian International School in Jurong East, Singapore, is seeking a motivated Primary School Learning Support Instructional Assistant to join our inclusive education team. The LS IA will provide learning and resource support for the Learning Support (LS) teacher and students who receive learning support, helping to ensure every student can access the curriculum with confidence and joy. You will contribute to a learning environment that values curiosity, resilience, and collaboration across age-appropriate activities.

As part of our Learning Support programme, you will collaborate with teachers to adapt lessons, create accessible materials, and prepare assistive resources. You will deliver targeted interventions in reading, writing, numeracy, and practical skills, guided by the LS teacher and school policies. You will also assist with small-group and one-on-one sessions, track progress, and report observations to the teaching team to refine instructional strategies.

Responsibility

  • Provide learning and resource support for the LS teacher and students who require learning assistance.
  • Prepare and adapt instructional materials, worksheets, and visual aids to meet diverse learning needs.
  • Deliver targeted interventions in literacy, numeracy, and other core subjects in small groups or 1:1 settings.
  • Monitor student progress, maintain learning records, and communicate observations to teachers and parents as appropriate.
  • Create an inclusive, safe, and engaging classroom environment that encourages participation and positive behavior.
  • Assist with classroom management, transitions, and supervision during activities and breaks.
  • Support assessment activities and administer accommodations under teacher direction.
  • Collaborate with the LS team and subject teachers to align instruction with school curricula and Inclusion goals.

Qualification

  • Diploma or degree in Education, Special Education, or a related field; or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience as a Learning Support Assistant or classroom support in a primary school setting is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills; excellent communication with students, teachers, and parents.
  • Knowledge of inclusive education practices and differentiation strategies.
  • Proficiency with basic classroom technology and data tracking tools.
  • Patient, resilient, and motivated to support diverse learners.
  • Ability to follow school policies, maintain confidentiality, and uphold safeguarding standards.
