The Aurora Institute of Philosophy invites applications for a tenure-track Professor of Philosophy in Cambridge, MA. Responsibility
- Lead and teach undergraduate and graduate courses across core areas of philosophy, including ethics, epistemology, metaphysics, and logic.
- Supervise senior theses and graduate dissertations; provide mentorship to students pursuing research tracks.
- Develop and revise curriculum to reflect current scholarship and inclusive teaching practices.
- Maintain an active program of scholarly research; publish in peer-reviewed journals; present at conferences.
- Seek external funding, manage research start-up funds, and collaborate on interdisciplinary projects.
- Contribute to departmental service, assessment, and committee work; participate in faculty governance.
- Engage with local communities and public philosophy initiatives to make philosophical discourse accessible.
Qualification
- PhD in Philosophy or a closely related field by start date.
- Strong record of scholarship with publications appropriate to career stage.
- Evidence of effective university-level teaching across diverse student populations.
- A clearly defined research agenda with potential to attract external funding.
- Experience supervising graduate and undergraduate research; strong mentoring skills.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in teaching, mentoring, and service.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills; ability to work in a collegial team.
- Specialization in ethics, political philosophy, philosophy of mind, or related area is welcome; interdisciplinary interests considered.
