Job description

Overview We are seeking a results driven Public Health Analyst to join the Pacific Northwest Public Health Institute in Seattle. You will transform data into actionable insights to improve population health and inform policy decisions. This role blends data science, program evaluation, and stakeholder collaboration to deliver meaningful public health impact.

What youll do You will analyze surveillance data, build dashboards, and support evaluation of public health programs; collaborate with city and state partners; contribute to grant reporting; and champion health equity initiatives across diverse communities.

Responsibility

  • Conduct data analysis on population health indicators using SQL and statistical software to identify trends and disparities.
  • Design and implement program evaluation plans to measure impact, effectiveness, and cost efficiency.
  • Collaborate with local health departments and community partners to translate data findings into actionable policies and programs.
  • Develop dashboards and regularly report findings to leadership, funders, and stakeholders.
  • Support grant writing, performance reporting, and project management for public health initiatives.
  • Ensure data quality, privacy, and compliance with HIPAA and ethical standards.
  • Contribute to health equity initiatives and engage with communities to understand social determinants of health.

Qualification

  • Master’s degree in public health, epidemiology, statistics, or related field; PhD preferred in some cases.
  • 3+ years of public health analytics or program evaluation experience.
  • Proficiency in SQL and R or Python, with experience in data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
  • Strong knowledge of study design, biostatistics, surveillance methods, and interpretation of results.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to present complex data to nontechnical audiences.
  • Knowledge of health equity and social determinants of health; culturally competent collaboration skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work with diverse stakeholders.
