Responsibility
- Provide comprehensive antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal care to birthing families in hospital and community settings.
- Lead and support labour and birth with emphasis on safety, informed consent, and evidence-based practice.
- Develop and implement individualized birth plans through shared decision-making with families and the multidisciplinary team.
- Monitor maternal and fetal well-being, identify deviations, and escalate concerns promptly.
- Educate clients on childbirth options, pain management, breastfeeding, newborn care, and postnatal recovery.
- Mentor junior staff and contribute to quality improvement, safety initiatives, and protocols.
- Document care accurately, maintain patient confidentiality, and comply with regulatory standards.
- Participate in on-call rotations and after-hours coverage as required.
Qualification
- Current registration as a Midwife with AHPRA (Australia) or eligible for registration.
- Bachelor of Midwifery or equivalent; postgraduate qualifications in midwifery are preferred.
- NRP certification or equivalent neonatal resuscitation training.
- Excellent communication and counseling skills with diverse populations.
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team and adapt to changing clinical situations.
- Commitment to patient safety, evidence-based practice, and ongoing professional development.
- Right to work in Australia (or valid visa allowing practice).
