Responsibility
- Deliver direct patient care in the ICU, including monitoring, medication administration, and ongoing assessment.
- Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and support staff to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Perform and document accurate assessments, flow sheet updates, and clinical notes in the electronic medical record.
- Respond promptly to deteriorating patient conditions and participate in rapid response and code situations as needed.
- Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and post discharge care.
- Ensure safety and adherence to infection control, medication safety, and patient privacy standards.
- Mentor and precept new staff and students, fostering a culture of learning and teamwork.
Qualification
- Current Registered Nurse license in the state of New York (or eligible for licensure).
- BSN preferred; ADN acceptable with commitment to further education.
- Minimum 2 years of ICU or high-acuity medical-surgical nursing experience.
- Active BLS/ACLS certification and CPR certification.
- Strong clinical assessment skills and critical thinking with excellent communication and teamwork.
- Proficiency with electronic medical records and clinical documentation systems.
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
