Responsibility
- Operate and maintain heavy equipment (bulldozers, excavators, graders, rollers) on road construction sites following project plans and safety standards.
- Perform pre-shift inspections, report repairs, and ensure equipment is safe to use.
- Assist with site preparation, earthworks, compaction, and material placement as directed.
- Read and interpret blueprints, grade sheets, and alignment stakes; communicate any discrepancies to the supervisor.
- Follow traffic control, PPE, and OSHA safety protocols to protect workers and the public.
- Coordinate with crew members to maintain productivity and quality of work; ensure timely completion of tasks.
- Document daily activities, fuel usage, and maintenance needs; report issues promptly.
Qualification
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in heavy equipment operation preferred.
- 1+ year of road construction equipment operation experience; internships or apprenticeships accepted.
- Valid operator certifications or licenses as required by state and equipment (e.g., OSHA-10; CDL is a plus).
- Strong commitment to safety and proper use of PPE; ability to follow complex instructions and read site plans.
- Excellent teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills; reliable and punctual.
- Physical ability to perform demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for long periods.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to perform routine maintenance on equipment.
