Bond Group is seeking a proactive Safety Officer / Safety Supervisor to lead safety initiatives across active construction projects in Kuala Lumpur. This contract role requires a hands-on leader who can develop and enforce robust safety programs, ensure regulatory compliance, and partner with project teams to drive safety performance while protecting project deadlines and budgets. You will champion a culture of safety, conduct hazard identifications, and coordinate with engineers, site managers, and subcontractors to minimize risk and incidents. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong communication, decisive risk management, and the ability to translate safety policy into practical field actions. This role supports ongoing projects under local regulations and company standards, including adherence to OSH Act 1994 guidelines and relevant Malaysian safety frameworks.
Key responsibilities include implementing and maintaining site safety plans, performing risk assessments, leading toolbox talks, supervising safety personnel, inspecting equipment and PPE, coordinating site inductions, and preparing safety reports for stakeholders. You will also lead incident investigations, implement corrective actions, and ensure ongoing regulatory compliance. This position may require travel to multiple sites and the ability to work in a fast-paced construction environment while maintaining a strong commitment to people safety and project timelines.
Responsibility
- Lead and supervise on-site safety programs across construction activities to protect workers and equipment.
- Develop, implement, and maintain site safety plans aligned with project schedules and client requirements.
- Conduct regular site inspections and toolbox talks; identify hazards and implement corrective actions promptly.
- Perform risk assessments and method statements for high-risk tasks; review permits to work and ensure compliance.
- Coordinate with project management, site management, and subcontractors to ensure zero-tolerance for safety violations.
- Lead incident investigations, document findings, and track corrective actions with closure within defined timelines.
- Ensure proper PPE availability, maintenance, and usage; monitor authorities safety inspections and audits.
- Prepare safety reports, audit findings, and performance metrics for internal and client stakeholders.
Qualification
- Bachelors degree in Safety Management, Occupational Health and Safety, Construction Management, or related field.
- Minimum 3-5 years of construction safety experience, with site-based supervision experience preferred.
- Certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, CIDB Green Card or equivalent safety certification recognized in Malaysia.
- Strong knowledge of Malaysian OSH Act 1994 and environmental safety guidelines; familiarity with ISO 45001 is a plus.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills; ability to train and motivate site teams.
- Proficient in risk assessment, incident investigation, and safety reporting; proficient in MS Office and safety management software.
- Ability to travel to project sites and work in a fast-paced construction environment; valid work authorization to operate in Malaysia.
