Join the leading specialist in marine navigation systems at Search Personnel as a Sales Engineer and Area Sales Manager. You will drive revenue growth in the West Region by securing new business, expanding key accounts, and delivering end-to-end navigation solutions that meet the highest maritime standards. This role blends technical insight with strategic sales to help shipowners, operators, and shipyards navigate complex procurement processes.

In this pre-sales oriented position, you will diagnose customer needs, design customized navigation packages, and craft compelling proposals. You will collaborate with product and engineering teams to translate vessel requirements into deployable systems, create accurate cost estimates, and support negotiations from first contact through to delivery and commissioning. Your ability to present technical demonstrations and business cases will help differentiate our offerings in a competitive market.

You will travel regionally to customer sites, run product demonstrations, and lead RFP responses while ensuring projects are delivered on time and within scope. Building trust through proactive communication, after-sales support, and ongoing account management will be critical to long-term success. You will also play a key role in forecasting, pipeline management, and cross-functional teamwork with service, logistics, and engineering colleagues.

Responsibility

  • Develop and manage strategic accounts in the West Region, focusing on marine navigation systems for vessels, fleets, and offshore platforms.
  • Identify and qualify new business opportunities within shipping, offshore, and shipyard segments; build robust pipeline.
  • Lead technical pre-sales activities, including requirement gathering, system design, and tailored proposals.
  • Deliver engaging product demonstrations and technical presentations to customers, committees, and decision-makers.
  • Collaborate with engineering, product management, and solutions teams to define customer requirements and ensure feasible deployments.
  • Build accurate commercial proposals, negotiate terms, and support contract closures while aligning with project delivery milestones.
  • Coordinate post-sales activities to ensure installation, integration, testing, training, and ongoing support.
  • Maintain strong customer relationships, provide regular forecasts, and participate in regional industry events to promote solutions.

Qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Marine Technology, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in technical sales, sales engineering, or business development within marine electronics or naval/naval architecture sectors.
  • Proven track record in solution selling, RFQ/RFP responses, and achieving or exceeding sales targets.
  • Strong technical knowledge of marine navigation systems including ECDIS, radar, AIS, GNSS, autopilot, sensors, and vessel integration.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills; ability to explain complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to travel regionally (up to 60%) and work effectively with cross-functional teams across sales, engineering, and service.
  • Proficiency with CRM platforms (Salesforce, HubSpot) and MS Office; self-motivated and customer-focused.
