Responsibility
- Provide individual and group counseling to address academic planning, social-emotional development, and behavioral concerns.
- Develop and implement IEPs and 504 plans in collaboration with teachers and families.
- Provide college and career counseling, including college applications, scholarships, and career exploration.
- Lead small-group sessions on study skills, resilience, social-emotional learning, and conflict resolution.
- Collaborate with teachers to identify at-risk students and implement early intervention strategies.
- Maintain confidential student records and monitor progress using data-driven approaches.
- Coordinate crisis intervention and refer to external resources as needed.
Qualification
- Master’s degree in Counseling, School Counseling, Psychology, or a related field.
- Valid New York State School Counselor Certification or eligibility.
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience in school counseling or youth development.
- Strong knowledge of college admissions processes, financial aid, and career exploration resources.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and crisis de-escalation skills.
- Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in student support services.
- Proficiency with data-tracking and counseling software; ability to maintain confidential records.
