NovaForge Labs is a fast-growing startup redefining how early-stage teams ship software. Based in Austin, TX, we are a remote-friendly team building an AI-powered platform that accelerates product-market fit for startups. We’re looking for a Senior Backend Engineer who shares our bias toward action, care for code quality, and passion for building robust systems.
In this role, you’ll own critical server-side components, collaborate across product and design, and help shape our technical roadmap as we scale from 10 to 100 engineers.
Responsibility
- Design, implement, and maintain scalable backend services using Go or Python
- Own API design, data models, and database schemas
- Develop microservices with clear interfaces and robust test coverage
- Collaborate with frontend, product, and data teams to deliver high-impact features
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, tooling, and deployment processes
- Monitor performance, reliability, and security; implement observability
- Mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of code quality
- Contribute to architectural decisions and platform roadmap
Qualification
- 5+ years of backend engineering experience in production systems
- Proficiency in Go or Python; strong SQL skills (PostgreSQL/MySQL)
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/GCP), containers (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Experience designing and consuming REST/GraphQL APIs; event-driven architectures
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration abilities
- BS/MS in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent
- Startup environment experience or demonstrated ability to operate in fast-paced contexts
