Join a leading broadcasting team in the heart of Los Angeles. We are seeking a Senior Broadcast Engineer to design, operate, and maintain high quality production and transmission systems for live and taped programming. You will collaborate with Producers, Directors, IT and Engineering to deliver reliable, innovative broadcast experiences.
In this role you will drive technical excellence across studio operations, mastering IP based workflows, broadcast automation and robust disaster recovery planning.
Responsibility
- Operate and maintain studio and field broadcast systems for live and taped programs, ensuring uptime and quality.
- Configure and manage video routing, switchers, audio consoles, decoders and encoders and related IP SDI infrastructure.
- Oversee broadcast automation, rundown management, graphics playout and integration with newsroom systems.
- Monitor signal integrity with waveform monitors, vectorscopes and multiviewers and troubleshoot issues in real time.
- Plan and execute preventative maintenance, equipment upgrades and inventory control.
- Collaborate with Producers, Directors, IT and Engineering to design scalable IP based workflows SMPTE 2110 and disaster recovery plans.
- Lead on call rotations, document standard operating procedures and provide training to junior staff.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Broadcasting, Electrical Engineering, Communications or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of hands on experience in live broadcast engineering or studio operations.
- Strong expertise with SDI and IP video routing, video switchers, audio consoles and broadcast automation systems.
- Proficiency with calibration tools and QC equipment such as waveform monitors, vectorscopes and multiviewers.
- Experience with encoders decoders transmitters and IP based distribution including SMPTE 2110 and AES67.
- Familiarity with newsroom and automation software such as Ross OverDrive and Grass Valley iNews and IT networking concepts.
- Excellent communication problem solving and ability to work under pressure; flexible schedule and on call availability.
