Join our Los Angeles based Aurora Media Network as a Senior Broadcast Engineer. You will design, deploy, and maintain end-to-end broadcast systems across live studio, playout, and remote productions. You will collaborate with production, IT, and engineering teams to ensure flawless on-air quality and reliability.
We are looking for a hands-on technologist who can translate creative needs into robust technical solutions. The ideal candidate combines deep broadcast engineering expertise with strong collaboration skills to support high-pressure live environments.
Responsibility
- Lead the design, deployment, and maintenance of broadcast infrastructure including video routers, switchers, encoders/decoders, servers, storage, and routing networks.
- Manage live production systems and on-air playout workflows with high availability across multiple rooms and remote sites.
- Implement SMPTE-compliant workflows and ensure proper synchronization and timing across facilities.
- Troubleshoot complex issues across video, audio, and data networks; perform root cause analysis and implement preventive measures.
- Collaborate with IT and security teams to ensure cybersecurity, disaster recovery, and business continuity for broadcast systems.
- Plan upgrades, capacity expansions, and vendor relationships; manage projects end-to-end.
- Provide on-call support during live operations and maintain up-to-date technical documentation.
- Mentor and train junior engineers and operators to uphold engineering standards.
Qualification
- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Broadcast Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in broadcast engineering or operations within a media environment.
- Strong knowledge of SMPTE standards, IP-based video transport (NDI, RTMP, RTSP), and IP networking.
- Experience with broadcast playout systems, automation, ingest workflows, and newsroom/production operations.
- Proficiency with video encoders/decoders, routers, switchers, multiviewers, and media servers.
- Excellent troubleshooting, incident response, change management, and documentation skills.
- Understanding of IT security, backup, and disaster recovery planning for broadcast environments.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills; ability to work under pressure in live settings.
