Responsibility
- Lead the design, installation, operation, and optimization of broadcast transmission systems including RF, video, audio, and automation.
- Manage live studio operations, trouble-shooting, and real-time problem resolution during broadcasts.
- Oversee routing, switching, encoding/decoding, and automation to ensure uptime and quality.
- Collaborate with producers, editors, IT, and third-party vendors; manage projects and timelines.
- Ensure compliance with SMPTE, EBU, ATSC, FCC and other regulatory standards; perform audits and documentation.
- Plan capacity upgrades, equipment lifecycle, and vendor relationships; budget management.
- Lead, mentor, and develop junior technicians; establish best practices and standard operating procedures.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field; or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years in professional broadcasting engineering, live production, or station operations.
- Strong knowledge of SDI/IP workflows, RF technologies, video/audio processing, and studio automation systems.
- Experience with equipment from vendors such as Evertz, Grass Valley, Imagine Communications, Ross, and complementary control systems.
- Familiarity with regulatory standards (SMPTE, ATSC, FCC) and best practices for broadcast reliability.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills; ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends for live events.
