Nova Broadcast Media is seeking a Senior Broadcast Engineer in Los Angeles to join our dynamic live production team. This role blends hands-on broadcast engineering with operational leadership to ensure high-quality, reliable delivery across broadcast and streaming platforms.
In this role you will work in a modern control room, manage IP-based transport, and collaborate with Production, IT, and Engineering teams to deliver compelling content with maximum uptime.
Responsibility
- Oversee and troubleshoot live multi-camera productions across broadcast and streaming platforms.
- Maintain and upgrade SDI/HDMI video, audio routing, and signal integrity in the control room.
- Configure and monitor IP-based transport and workflows including SMPTE 2110, NDI, and AMWA NMOS.
- Manage broadcast automation systems and routing to ensure accurate, timely delivery.
- Collaborate with Production, IT, and Engineering teams to plan, test, and execute system upgrades and field deployments.
- Respond to broadcast incidents, perform rapid fault isolation, and document root-cause analyses.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures, runbooks, and technical documentation.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Broadcasting, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in broadcast engineering or live production environments.
- Strong knowledge of SDI, HDMI, audio routing, and broadcast control room systems.
- Hands-on experience with IP-based workflows (SMPTE 2110, NDI, AMWA NMOS) and encoding/decoding equipment.
- Proficiency with control room software, monitoring tools, and broadcast automation platforms.
- Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and teamwork skills with ability to perform under pressure.
- Industry certifications in broadcast engineering or IT networking are a plus.
