Responsibility
- Oversee daily live and taped broadcast operations, ensuring signal integrity, uptime, and compliance with quality standards.
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and upgrade SDI and IP infrastructure including routers, switchers, encoders/decoders, and automation systems.
- Design and implement robust IP-based workflows (SMPTE 2110, NDI, RTMP) and cloud-based playout and ingest strategies.
- Collaborate with Production, IT, and Newsroom teams to optimize end-to-end broadcast workflows and ensure seamless handoffs.
- Lead preventative maintenance, capacity planning, vendor management, and project delivery for technical upgrades.
- Establish and enforce incident response, disaster recovery, and business continuity procedures for on-air operations.
- Mentor junior engineers, document procedures, and drive standardization across facilities and studios.
- Stay current with industry trends, certifications, and emerging technologies to improve reliability and efficiency.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of professional broadcast engineering or operations experience in a live or multi-camera studio environment.
- Strong expertise in SDI, IP-based workflows (SMPTE 2110), NDI, and broadcast automation systems.
- Experience with playout, encoders/decoders, routers, multiviewers, and monitoring tools; familiarity with cloud-based ingest/pluays is a plus.
- Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills with a proactive problem-solving approach.
- Ability to work flexible hours, weekends, and on-call shifts for live events; U.S. work authorization or eligibility required.
- Relevant certifications (SMPTE, Cisco CCNA/CCNP, or equivalent) are a plus.
- Strong project management and leadership abilities with a collaborative mindset.
