Join LumaStream Media as a Senior Broadcast Engineer. This is a premium, high-impact role at a growing production house in Los Angeles. You will lead the design, deployment, and maintenance of state-of-the-art broadcast systems across live and on-demand workflows.
As a key member of our engineering team, you will ensure uptime, quality, and scalability of our studio and playout facilities, while partnering with news, production, and IT teams to deliver flawless viewer experiences.
Responsibility
- Lead the design, integration, and ongoing maintenance of broadcast infrastructure, including switchers, routers, encoders/decoders, and automation systems.
- Oversee live production operations and control room activities to ensure uptime, reliability, and broadcast quality across multiple channels.
- Implement and monitor IP-based workflows (SMPTE ST 2110) and NDIs/NMOS-based signaling; manage signal integrity and routing for SDI/IP environments.
- Plan capacity, perform firmware and software upgrades, and manage change control with minimal disruption to on-air schedules.
- Troubleshoot outages, perform root-cause analysis, and implement preventive maintenance and disaster recovery plans.
- Collaborate with vendors, IT, and production teams to deliver projects on time and within budget; manage procurement and lifecycle of equipment.
- Document configurations, SOPs, and asset inventories; ensure compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field; or equivalent hands-on experience in broadcast engineering.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in broadcast engineering, operations, or media infrastructure.
- Strong expertise with SDI and IP video, SMPTE ST 2110, NMOS, and automation systems.
- Proven experience with newsroom computer systems (NRCS) integration, playout automation, and traffic/workflow management.
- Solid understanding of IP networks, QoS, multicast, and CDN-based streaming; familiarity with Dante, NDI, or similar protocols.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills; ability to lead on-call rotations.
- Experience with vendor management, project leadership, and documentation best practices.
