Job description

NovaWave Media Group is seeking a seasoned Senior Broadcast Engineer to lead end-to-end broadcast operations for live channels and OTT platforms. Based in Los Angeles, this role blends engineering excellence with strong collaboration across production, IT, and editorial teams.

You will architect and maintain reliable, scalable video delivery pipelines, troubleshoot complex signal workflows, and drive initiatives that improve latency, reliability, and quality of service across broadcast environments.

Responsibility

  • Design, deploy, and maintain broadcast infrastructures for live and OTT workflows (SDI/IP, streaming, mastering, playout).
  • Monitor and troubleshoot video and audio paths across studios, control rooms, and remote facilities.
  • Manage signal routing, media asset management, and automation systems (vision mixers, router panels, control software).
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and IT teams to ensure uptime during live events; develop incident response playbooks.
  • Lead deployment of IP-based broadcasting technologies (SMPTE 2110, NDI, RTMP), and ensure SMPTE alignment.
  • Plan capacity, perform firmware updates, audits, and documentation; implement security best practices for broadcast networks.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide on-call support during peak periods.

Qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field; or equivalent industry experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in professional broadcast engineering for live TV or OTT environments.
  • Strong understanding of SMPTE 2022/2110, RTMP/RTSP, NDI, and video codecs; familiarity with IP video workflows.
  • Experience with IP networking, VLANs, QoS, and cybersecurity for media networks.
  • Hands-on experience with production automation systems, router control, and waveform monitors.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills; ability to work under pressure.
  • Availability for on-call shifts and occasional after-hours events.
