We are seeking a Senior Chemical Engineer to join our Houston-based team and drive critical projects from concept through commercialization. Responsibility
- Lead design and scale-up of chemical processes from concept to pilot to full-scale production.
- Develop and optimize processes, perform mass and energy balances, and size equipment.
- Create and review PFDs, P&IDs, and equipment specifications aligned with standards (ASME, API, NFPA).
- Collaborate with R&D, operations, and procurement to deliver robust, cost-effective solutions.
- Conduct risk assessments, HAZOP studies, and implement safety improvements.
- Perform economic evaluations and participate in CAPEX/OPEX planning and project scheduling.
- Mentor junior engineers, support onboarding, and share best practices.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance yield, efficiency, and sustainability.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering; advanced degree preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in chemical process design, scale-up, or operations, preferably in refinery, petrochemical, or specialty chemicals.
- Proficiency with process simulation tools (Aspen Plus/HYSYS, ChemCAD, or equivalents).
- Strong knowledge of PFDs, P&IDs, reactor design, heat and mass transfer, and equipment sizing.
- Experience with process safety management, risk analysis, and HAZOP.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills; ability to influence cross-functional teams.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment; willingness to travel as needed.
