Responsibility
- Lead process design and optimization for large-scale chemical manufacturing projects from concept to commissioning.
- Develop and review PFDs, P&IDs, and equipment specifications ensuring regulatory compliance and safety standards.
- Perform rigorous mass and energy balance calculations, simulation studies, and design-of-experiments (DOE).
- Lead pilot plant activities, scale-up studies, and validated data collection for commercial readiness.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Operations, HSE, Supply Chain, Project Management) to deliver on-time, on-budget results.
- Mentor junior engineers, review technical deliverables, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
- Support capital expenditure (CAPEX) and operating expenditure (OPEX) justification with robust technical justifications.
- Ensure compliance with Process Safety Management (PSM) and regulatory requirements.
Qualification
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- 7+ years of experience in process design, chemical manufacturing, or petrochemicals.
- Expertise in process simulation software (Aspen Plus, HYSYS) and data analysis tools (Excel, Python).
- Strong understanding of PFDs, P&IDs, equipment sizing, and heat/mass balance.
- Experience with pilot plants, scale-up, and pilot-to-commercial transfer.
- Proven track record in safety, regulatory compliance, and risk assessment (HAZOP, LOPA).
- Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.
- Ability to work in a dynamic team environment and manage multiple priorities.
