Responsibility
- Lead process design, optimization, and scale-up of chemical processes from concept to commercial operation.
- Develop and validate mass and energy balances, process flow diagrams, and equipment specifications.
- Perform process simulations using ASPEN Plus, HYSYS, CHEMCAD, and related tools to drive design decisions.
- Conduct process safety analyses (HAZOP, LOPA) and implement effective risk controls.
- Collaborate with R&D, operations, and manufacturing to deliver projects on time and within budget.
- Mentor junior engineers, review PFDs and P&IDs, and ensure quality and compliance in all deliverables.
- Identify opportunities for energy efficiency, throughput improvements, and waste reduction.
- Support regulatory and environmental compliance, equipment commissioning, and startup activities.
Qualification
- Bachelor or Master degree in Chemical Engineering; Professional Engineer license or eligibility preferred.
- 5+ years of chemical or process engineering experience in refinery, petrochemical, or specialty chemicals.
- Strong proficiency with process simulation tools (ASPEN Plus, HYSYS, CHEMCAD).
- Solid knowledge of mass and energy balances, unit operations, heat transfer, separation processes.
- Experience with safety analyses such as HAZOP and LOPA; knowledge of GMP/GLP and environmental regulations.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and project management skills; ability to lead cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrated problem solving, data analysis, DOE, and process optimization capabilities.
- Preference for experience with data analytics, experimental design, or CFD/ reactor design.
