Job description
NovaChem Solutions is a leading innovator in specialty chemicals, delivering safe, sustainable, and high-performance solutions for global customers. We are seeking a Senior Chemical Engineer to lead process development and scale-up efforts across our growing portfolio. This role offers hands-on ownership, cross-functional collaboration, and clear-path career progression in a world-class chemical engineering environment.
As a Senior Chemical Engineer, you will design, optimize, and scale chemical processes from lab concept to commercial production. You will drive process safety, reliability, and cost-focused improvements while mentoring junior team members and reporting to the Director of Engineering.
Join us to work on breakthrough chemistries, collaborate with R&D, manufacturing, and supply chain, and contribute to sustainable and profitable process solutions.
Responsibility
- Lead process development from concept to commercialization for new chemical products, focusing on robustness and scale-up readiness.
- Develop and optimize processes using simulation tools (Aspen Plus/HYSYS) and validate models with pilot data.
- Design and evaluate reactor, separation, and heat transfer systems to meet safety, yield, and quality targets.
- Collaborate with R&D, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to ensure safe, compliant, and cost-effective operations.
- Perform detailed process economics, CAPEX/OPEX estimates, and contribute to project business cases.
- Plan, execute, and interpret experiments; analyze data to drive continuous improvement and scale-up strategies.
- Lead safety analyses (HAZOP, LOPA) and ensure regulatory compliance and thorough documentation.
Qualification
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering; 5+ years of relevant experience in petrochemical, polymers, or specialty chemicals.
- Proven expertise in process simulation (Aspen Plus/HYSYS) and reaction kinetics; strong mathematical modeling skills.
- Hands-on experience in reactor design, heat transfer, mass transfer, and separation processes.
- Demonstrated project management, cross-functional collaboration, and ability to lead a small team.
- Strong knowledge of safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance (OSHA, REACH, GHS).
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and data-driven decision-making abilities.
- Experience with pilot plants, data analytics, and continuous improvement methodologies.
